First of all let me begin by saying, it is October…HOORAY!
Secondly, this is my first weekend as a grad student. This means that it was a VERY busy weekend. Most of it was spent doing the necessary readings for next week’s class sessions. I am pooped out…but I ain’t complaining!
Saturday morning I went to the Chapman 5K by myself. Hubby had to go see his surgeon regarding his torn ACL. The race was GREAT as usual. The Chapman University 5K is one of the nicest and most well organized race events I have attended. Not only do they provide a healthy, warm breakfast after the race, but they also provide one of the best goodie bags out there. I try to participate every year. This year was their 10th anniversary, and the medal was so COOL!
Anyhow, as I have said before, I have the greatest husband on earth. He just bought me a FitBit Surge and I received it on Saturday morning and OMG, it is AWESOME!
So what is so great about this new version besides that it is a giant square (I am obsessed with squares…don’t ask)?
Here is what I personally love:
- Large touch screen display
- Still track steps but NOW also tracks your runs via GPS. This is FANTASTIC for me. I do have a Garmin, but this is proving to be better since it connects to the satellite so much faster, is so much lighter, and is part of one single device that is also tracking all of my other fitness ventures.
- Apart from tracking fitness and sleep, the Surge can also connect via Bluetooth to your cell phone and notify you of a text message and show your music as well.
- Heart rate is tracked without a separate strap/band needed.
- Uhhh…POTUS WEARS ONE!!!
So, I have to say, so far SO GOOD! If you are considering purchasing a new fitness device, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ONE! Today, I used it for the first time on my 5K run, and it was a SUCCESS!
So in conclusion, I love my new Fitbit. Thanks hubby! Also, I am really proud of myself. With only a little over a month until the Las Vegas Half Marathon, I decided to have a Come to Jesus talk with myself. What are you waiting for Cindy? Get to it. So between yesterday’s 5K race and today’s 5K run on the trail, I put in over 6 miles this weekend. I felt great out there…I AM BACK!
